Letter of Intent
I am writing to inform you of my intention to enroll into the prestigious Masters of Social Work program at your University.
I am excited to be graduating with my BS of ADPS from Eastern Washington University’s undergraduate program this June and am looking forward to continuing my education at a campus I so love.
I am currently interning at the Lutheran Community Services as a member of the crisis response advocate team and involved with numerous campus clubs and organizations; including the National Society of Leadership and Success, Psi Chi Honorary Society and the Office of Community Engagement where I am a leader for the hunger and homelessness awareness team. I have maintained good standing since transferring from Spokane Community College and have found the experiences at Eastern Washington University to be absolutely spectacular.
My intent is to specialize with the increasing population of elderly, focusing on life changes and beneficial coping mechanisms. It is a field in which there is a strong need for social workers. It is my belief that by providing adequate counseling services and providing excellent resources that I can change the lives of people who experience such traumas as death and severe lifestyle changes. I hope that by providing services not only to the elderly but to their immediate family I can assist in creating beneficial changes within their family structures and their outlook on the elderly’s changing lives.
It is also a passion of mine to work with any and all populations that fall, even temporarily, into high risk categories such as suicidal ideations or behaviors, post-traumatic stress disorders, mal-adaptive coping mechanisms, homelessness and the current struggles of our nation’s veterans. I hope to network with other professional’s and begin a successful outreach program for the direly destitute to assist them in obtaining no-cost psychiatric medications, counseling and active planning in addition to the programs currently available to allow them to become productive members of society again.
I am certain that to accomplish the goals I want to in life I will need the benefit of an excellent education, surrounded by mentors of only the best qualities. I hope you will consider my intention favorably and inform me quickly of admission procedures.
Thank you,
Tiffany Aldridge
